A preocupação deve existir.

In the words of my own Si Fu, Senior Master Júlio Camacho, and my Si Gung, Grand Master Leo Imamura, discipleship is the most important ceremony in the life of a Kung Fu practitioner. Even more important than when the martial artist becomes master and even when he starts his own family, since none of these later events would happen if Baai Si had not occurred. In fact, when I see images of that day, to this day I am moved and brings a pleasant feeling. At that time, we would do the discipleship myself and my Si Hing Marcos Leiras.I can not say it was a quiet preparation and this was something that Si Fu also told me. The ceremony needs to bring weight, needs to be carefully worked out. Concern must exist. Not in the disconnected sense of the word, but in the real etymological sense of it (something that my Si Fu likes a lot): To put yourself previously in the situation. Take care, position yourself before the situation happens, program yourself. In the clan Moy Jo Lei Ou, Si Fu established that the process takes place in 3 stages: The invitation during the dinner (in which is officially offered a gift to the Si Fu with a symbolic meaning), the ceremony of Baai Si and the delivery of the name Kung Fu at Si Fu's house.

The week began with many issues, we needed to solve many things, because the ceremony would also celebrate the birthday of Senior Master Júlio Camacho, my Si Fu. Be it the cushion we would bow, the tea and the set of cups, the dinner and all the financial part. I also had Gaai Siu Yan (formal supervisor of my process of entry into the Kung Fu family - Hoy Kim) as Pedro Ivo, who explained to me how important it was that the tea was not sweet and not bitter, since it would represent the relation between disciple and Si Fu.I had invited my Si Taai Vanise Imamura and my Si Gung Leo Imamura to the occasion, and I was honored to receive their visit at the event and to do the Baai Si with them. After all, it was the fifty-first traditional ceremony of the family Moy Jo Lei Ou, or LI in Roman numerals (initials of tSi Gung's name).

Tal fato me fez correr para a cozinha do hotel e refazer o chá numa velocidade recorde.

I was invited on the occasion to be Gaai Siu Yan of Heric Branco, an invitation that I accepted with much pleasure and happiness.I made the tea, and I had some inconveniences at the time (laughs). The tea was ready and some Kung Fu brother, with the best intentions, rushed to throw away before the ceremony the tea he thought he would have been there for many hours. This made me rush into the hotel kitchen and remake the tea at a record speed. I could see the athleticism of my Gaai Siu Yan who "jumped" the pool fence next to where the kitchen was like a Tokyo police officer (laughs). It was a spectacular night!

I never imagined that I could be that affected. I even had difficulty speaking with the microphone. I think that doing Baai Si with my Si Fu and soon after with my Si Gung was something so remarkable, that I felt the weight in the hour I picked up the microphone (laughs). After receiving my Kung Fu name at Si Fu's house, Moy Tai Lei, the process of Baai Si closes and begins another process, this time for life. To become a disciple in fact. More difficult than any ceremony, it is a lifelong relationship, with ups and downs, distant moments and closer moments, but that yes, it is where lies the true learning of Kung Fu.
